The new SaddleBrooke Ranch clubhouse will feature a bar, restaurant, ballroom and outdoor terraces.

A multimillion centerpiece of an age-restricted community north of Tucson is nearing completion.

SaddleBrooke Ranch in Oracle has a $3 million creative-arts center and $15 million clubhouse under construction.

The 8-year-old community for residents aged 55-plus has sold about 650 homes and will feature about 5,000 homes when built out, said Jason Hatch, vice president of sales for developer Robson Resort Communities.

“At all Robson communities, the heart of the community is the amenities,” he said.

Residents give input on the amenities, and the arts center was something important to residents who “like to build things, learn a new skill or hobby,” Hatch said.

He said in the past few years, Robson’s competition in development of 55-plus communities has quadrupled.

“Robson sets itself apart with its amenities,” Hatch said. “The social aspect is important because it’s not just a home, it is a lifestyle.”

The 40,000-square-foot clubhouse, featuring a bar, restaurant, ballroom and outdoor terraces, should be complete in the first quarter of 2018.

The 16,000-square-foot arts center will have seven rooms for activities such as ceramics, woodworking and pottery and is scheduled to be complete by the end of the year.
