The president of Mexico’s largest industrial chamber organization signed a collaborative agreement Thursday with the Maricopa Association of Governments and its partners to support and promote a Web-based connection tool, ConnectBIEN.com.

BIEN is an acronym for Building an International Economic Network. The free business-to-business website allows businesses in Arizona, Mexico and Canada to connect with one another.

β€œWe look forward to continuing to grow our relationship with Arizona and its businesses,” said Rodrigo AlpΓzar Vallejo, president of Canacintra (National Chamber of Industry Transformation). β€œOur goal is to forge stronger business connections and commerce opportunities in the β€˜Ari-Son’ megaregion, Sinaloa, Baja California and throughout Mexico.”

The agreement was signed by AlpΓzar; Maricopa Association of Governments Chair and Scottsdale Mayor W.J. Lane; MAG economic development committee chair and Gilbert Mayor John W. Lewis; Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild and Arizona Mexico Commission Executive Director Kim Sabow, who serves as Gov. Doug Ducey’s policy adviser for international affairs and strategic initiatives. The ceremony took place at the JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort & Spa.

The directory is open to any type of business, including industrial, retail, hospitality and restaurants.

BIEN also sponsors a manufacturing-specific directory published by the Arizona Daily Star in partnership with the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

The Arizona-Sonora Business Resource Guide focuses on the industrial manufacturing industry, its supply chain and trade groups in Arizona and Sonora that support cross-border business.

A print version of the guide is available at the Hispanic Chamber, 823 E. Speedway or by calling 620-0005.

The free mobile app is available for iOS and Android phones courtesy of project sponsors: Arizona Commerce Authority, Sun Corridor Inc., The Offshore Group, The ILS Co., city of Tucson, Yuma Economic Development Council, Maricopa Association of Governments, ConnectBIEN.com, Pima County Association of Governments, Picor, Rio Nuevo, United Builders and Beach Fleischman.
