Customers of UNS Gas will have a little lower bills through the heating season, thanks to a credit recently approved by state regulators.
The Arizona Corporation Commission this week approved a temporary credit for purchased natural gas that will cut the average home customerβs bill by $7.36 per month, or about 11 percent, from November through April.
UNS Gas, a subsidiary of UniSource Energy Corp. along with Tucson Electric Power Co., serves about 154,000 customers in Santa Cruz, Mohave, Yavapai, Coconino and Navajo counties.
UNS rates include anΒ adjustable surcharge to account for the fluctuating cost of purchased wholesale gas.Β
The utility was required to file for the credit because it expected to reach a threshold on overcollections from the surcharge, partly due to a refund UNS received in July from supplier El Paso Natural Gas.
