  • Canyon Ranch: Canyon Ranch has been recognized as the Best Wellness program by international luxury travel network Virtuoso. “Canyon Ranch demonstrates a superior commitment to product excellence, expert knowledge and outstanding client service, all qualities highly valued by this network,” said Albert Herrera, senior vice president, Global Product Partnerships for Virtuoso.
  • Edgar Martinez, Tucson Metro Chamber: The senior executive of business development has been awarded the Lifetime Sales Achievement Gold award and the Circle of Champions Sales award from the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives. Edgar Martinez placed third in the sales achievement category correlating to the size of comparable chambers of commerce nationwide, based on annual revenue from membership dues.
  • Sierra Vista: The city has been named the third best in the U.S. for tech workers, according to an annual study published by New York-based personal finance technology company SmartAsset. SmartAsset ranked 201 cities that had data for the five metrics it uses and noted that only 12 other cities in the study had a higher concentration of tech workers than Sierra Vista. “Sierra Vista is something of a tech hub with 5.4 percent of workers employed in the field,” SmartAsset says. “Secondly, working in tech in Sierra Vista is a high-paying gig. … On average tech workers in Sierra Vista make $81,400 per year.” Sierra Vista also scored above average when it comes to the unemployment rate of people with a bachelor’s degree and the ratio of a tech wage compared to an average wage in the community. 
  • Teresa Kattke, Canyon Vista Medical Center: Teresa Kattke was presented with the Chris Blackert Outstanding Rural Nurse of the Year award by the Arizona Perinatal Trust. Kattke came to Sierra Vista in 1994 where she has worked at the now Canyon Vista Medical Center as a registered nurse and nursery educator in the Women and Children Services Department. She has been teaching neonatal resuscitation to nurses, paramedics, EMTs, physicians and providers since 1988. Kattke also serves as an adjunct instructor at Cochise Community College.
  • Tucson Fire Department: The Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety has awarded the Tucson Fire Department a car seat safety grant for $2,436. The grant funding will be used to purchase 50 Cosco Scenera Next, convertible car seats for low income families. The seats are suitable for newborn children through 4 years of age, or up to 40 pounds.
  • Fastsigns: Sales employees from two local Fastsigns centers were recognized for outstanding sales achievements at the 2017 Fastsigns Outside Sales Summit. David Aviles from Fastsigns on Oracle Road and Paul Jamison from Fastsigns on Speedway each received the Bronze Sales award, which recognizes outside sales professionals who achieved sales between $300,000 and $499,999 from July 1, 2016, to June 30, 2017.
