Hundreds of years ago, a stone carver lived in a small village. He made gravestones and wheels from stone. His confidence was low because he was not regarded as a powerful member of the village.
One day the stone carver found a genie in a bottle and was granted a wish. The stone carver wanted the ability to become the most powerful thing in the world, no matter what it was.
There was a very bad drought at the time and all the villagers were complaining about how hot it was. The stone carver realized the sun was very powerful, so he became the sun. He burned hotter than ever until all the crops were ruined.
Then one day a cloud formed and blocked the sun. The stone carver decided the cloud was more powerful than the sun, so he became the cloud. He rained for days on end until the village was flooded.
Then the wind blew the cloud out over the ocean. No matter how hard he rained, he could not effect anyone. The wind seemed to be more powerful than the cloud, so the stone carver became the wind. He blew hard and leveled virtually everything in his path.
When the wind blew up against the mountain, it could not change the mountain. The stone carver realized the mountain was more powerful than the wind, so he became the mountain. For many years the mountain withstood the effects of the sun, the rain and the wind. The mountain seemed to be the most powerful thing in the world.
One day the mountain felt something unusual. At the base of the mountain was a stone carver chipping away with his pick ax. With every swing the stone carver forever changed the shape of the mountain.
Most of us tend to take what we do for granted. Maybe you are more powerful than you think you are.
