- Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona: The food bank received a “Hunger is” grant from Albertson’s Safeway. The grant, for $102,290, will allow a pilot summer breakfast program to expand in 2018 and will allow the Community Food Bank to distribute more breakfast items throughout the year. The summer breakfast pilot program provided nearly 5,000 weekday breakfast bags at eight sites in the Tucson area in a nine-week period this past summer.
- Oro Valley: The League of American Bicyclists recognized the Town of Oro Valley with a Gold Bicycle Friendly Business award. The honor recognizes bicycle-friendly businesses for making their workplaces and their communities safer, healthier, and more sustainable through bicycling. As a designated Gold Bicycle Friendly Business, Oro Valley will have access to tools and technical assistance from the League of American Bicyclists.
