Daniel Scordato is weeks away from moving out of St. Philip's Plaza.

The longtime restauranteur said he will open Scordato's Pizzeria in the old Mr. K's Barbecue restaurant on the corner of North Stone Avenue and East River Road by the second week in February.

He plans to keep the pizzeria open at St. Philip's Plaza, 4280 N. Campbell Ave., until a few days before the move. He said he anticipates he will be closed only four or five days during the transition.

Scordato has run restaurants including Vivace and Scordato’s Pizzeria in St. Philip's Plaza for 15 years. He relocated Vivace to the old Anthony's in the Foothills space at 6440 N. Campbell Ave. in spring 2014. Anthony's closed in 2013.

Scordato announced plans last summer to move the pizzeria to 4911 N. Stone Ave., saying that the larger space would give him a bigger kitchen and more possibilities to expand the menu. Mr. K's operated there from 2011 to 2013; the building has been vacant since.

Scordato said he is adding a few more pasta dishes and appetizers to the menu, but its core will remain pizza.

"Our emphasis will still be on pizzas," he said.
