  • : Ramos, associate vice president for precision health sciences at University of Arizona Health Sciences, was elected to the prestigious National Academy of Medicine. The announcement was made on Monday, Oct 19. β€œMembership is considered one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine and recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievements and commitment to service,” UA officials said in a news release. Ramos, recognized for his research in genomics and predictive biology, environmental and molecular medicine and toxicology, recently was named director of the new Center for Applied Genetics and Genomic Medicine at UA Health Sciences.

  • received the national 2015 Alliance Commitments Award for Engaging All Voices, for its work with Youth Empowered for Success (YES). Child & Family Resources President and CEO

  • accepted the award on Oct. 15 from the alliance, based in Washington, D.C., which works for β€œa healthy society and strong communities.” YES is an initiative in Pima County β€œthat has worked to mobilize the power of youth to create conditions for success in schools and communities,” the local agency said in a news release.
