• University of Arizona Eller College of Management: 1,200 Eller students and volunteers were scheduled to help 55 local non-profits over the weekend, Nov. 6-7, as part of United Way’s “National Days of Caring Make a Difference in Community” events. The Eller projects ranged from spreading mulch for water conservation, to repainting a food bank’s warehouse, to walking dogs, and to hanging Christmas lights at the Reid Park Zoo.

• Tucson Electric Power and Southwest Energy Solutions: Sponsored a Habitat for Humanity Tucson home-building event Friday, Nov. 6, in memory of Leland H. Yarbrough, a local homebuilder who worked with Habitat for more than 30 years and died in April.

• Our Family Services: Its Senior Corps will recognize senior companion volunteers who are military veterans or are serving veterans by presenting them with a National Veteran Corps pin at a ceremony Monday, Nov. 9.

• Truly Nolen: Its Tucson corporate office and customer care center raised $418 for the Arizona Cancer Society in Tucson through a “penny wars” donation challenge.

• Cox Charities: Granted $2,500 to SARSEF (Southern Arizona Research, Science and Engineering Foundation) to help serve underrepresented students in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education.

• Hooters: Is offering a free Veterans Day meal on Wednesday, Nov. 11, to all active-duty and retired military who present proof of service. In Tucson, Allison Prefling is among the Hooters’ servers honored to serve the free meals, as her father and grandfather are both military veterans, the chain said in a news release.

• Larry H. Miller: In honor of Veterans Day, its Chrysler Jeep and Dodge Ram Tucson dealerships are offering a $500 cash bonus on purchase of select models by active or retired military or military reserve, with restrictions. See www.larrymillerdodgeramtucson.com/special-programs.htm for info.
