Blue Bell Creameries is opening a new 14,000-square-foot distribution and sales center at 9398 E. Old Vail Road on Oct. 1.

The new facility will employ 24 people and serve Southern Arizona from Yuma to Willcox and from Casa Grande to Nogales.

Blue Bell is sold in 22 states and arrived in Arizona in 2005 with a full-sized branch in Phoenix and a smaller rented facility in Tucson.

Its ice cream is the No. 3-selling brand in the country, Blue Bell Creameries said in a news release.

Joe Granson, branch manager of the new facility, said the company expects to keep growing in Arizona due to β€œphenomenal” customer response.

Blue Bell strawberries and homemade vanilla ice cream is especially popular in Tucson, Granson said. Runners up include banana split and cherry vanilla.

The new distribution center will deliver the complete line of Blue Bell, which includes ice cream, light ice cream, sherbet, frozen yogurt, no sugar-added products and frozen snacks.
