Northwest Medical Center has been at odds with UnitedHealthcare since March. The two reached an agreement Saturday.

A provider of business office-support services affiliated with Northwest Medical Center and Oro Valley Hospital plans to expand locally and create 200 new jobs in the next two years, a regional economic-development group said Thursday.

Shared Services Center Tucson, currently housed at Northwest Medical with more than 85 employees, will move into a 60,000-square-foot building at 6223 S. Palo Verde Road and begin operations on Nov. 1, according to Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities Inc.

The new employees at Shared Services Center Tucson will be responsible for business services including the processing of medical insurance claims, billing, appeals, insurance collection and customer service, TREO said.

The company has already begun filling open positions, including management and business-support jobs. Interested applicants can apply by visiting the careers page at www.northwestmedicalcenter.com. Median wages are $15 to $17 an hour.

The project includes $5 million in capital investment, generating an overall $96 million economic impact, TREO said.

“Our hospital is dedicated to serving the Tucson area with compassionate care, and we are able to expand our commitment to this community by creating high-quality jobs,” Kevin Stockton, CEO of Northwest Medical Center, said in prepared remarks. “We are fortunate to have a diverse and talented workforce in our region so these jobs can be filled locally.”

In announcing the move at TREO’s annual luncheon, TREO President and CEO Joe Snell said the expansion is one sign that Tucson is starting to rebound from the lingering aftermath of the Great Recession.

“We’re experiencing momentum as the Tucson region advances its economic growth, post-recession,” he said.

CBRE and PICOR brokered the lease deal.
