North Modern Italian Cuisine, Sam Fox’s tony restaurant in La Encantada, will close on Tuesday to make way for a reinvention on the Italian theme.

When it reopens Sept. 19, the restaurant will have a decidedly more casual feel and attitude as North Fattoria Italiana.

“North Fattoria Italiana has a very different feel and is a complete departure from our original restaurant,” said Fox Restaurant Concepts CEO and founder Sam Fox in a written statement. “Since we opened the first North nine years ago, the concept has evolved.  Tucson is a friends and family town. We are very excited to bring a new experience  centered around house-made, fresh food to Tucson, as well as place we hope the community will use to come together every day.”

The restaurant will emphasize handmade and handcrafted foods, including pastas that will be prepared in an exhibition kitchen.

North will remain open through Monday. At 9 a.m. Tuesday, the restaurant will auction off its furnishings to make way for a major interior remodel that will include a fireplace and more user-friendly patio area.
