Pilots and visitors to Ryan Airfield have a new place to eat and drink after Richie’s Café opened Friday.

The airport had been without a restaurant since last fall after Todd’s closed last fall when the operators and the Tucson Airport Authority couldn’t reach a new lease agreement.

In April, the Tucson Airport Authority board approved a lease for Richard Flory, who owns The Happy Rooster Café on Tucson’s east side. The airport authority spent more than six months and $150,000 to upgrade the restaurant space at 9700 W. Ajo Way.

Richie’s Café is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily year-round, except on Christmas.
