Hoping to discourage movers’ relationships with cardboard, a new Tucson business is set to open this month.

BungoBox Arizona delivers and picks up plastic reusable boxes for packing and moving to both residential and commercial customers.

Owner Heather Rosson said she was looking for a business opportunity when she read about BungoBox, which was founded in Florida.

The dealership agreement is similar to a franchise but more flexible in letting the owners tailor the business to the local market.

Rosson recently leased 1,400 square feet of space at 3893 N. Oracle Road from Tesoro Enterprises LLC. Gary Emerson, with GRE Partners, handled the lease.

The mostly warehouse space will be used to store the boxes and sanitize them after use, she said.

For now, Rosson will be a one-person business, but hopes to hire a driver and box cleaner within a couple of months.

Her dealership agreements give her the rights to all of Arizona, and she plans to open a Phoenix location by the end of the year.

The boxes come in various sizes, including some on wheels, and can be rented by the week. Costs range from $56 a week for boxes and labels to pack a space up to 500 square feet to $168.50 for enough boxes to pack a space of up to 2,000 square feet.

β€œI like the sustainable aspect of them,” Rosson said. β€œI wanted to bring a little serenity to people who are moving and help save the planet in the meantime.”

BungoBox Arizona is to have its grand opening March 27. Visit bungoboxaz.com for more information.
