• Habitat for Humanity Tucson: On March 1, more than 350 employees of California-based Simpson Strong-Tie joined forces with Habitat for Humanity Tucson to help construct new homes in Tucson. Simpson Strong-Tie volunteers in local communities where its employees live and work during their annual β€œPut Something Back” activity. Simpson Strong-Tie, a supplier of structural building products, also provided a full home sponsorship by donating $80,000 to Habitat for Humanity Tucson.
  • South Tucson Lions: In the last year, the organization has conducted vision screenings for more than 20,000 children, and referred 20 percent to optometrists for professional exams and glasses. The Lions have a three-year agreement to screen students in the Sunnyside Unified School District, as well as at schools in Tucson Unified, Flowing Wells, and other districts.
  • Theater New and Now: The new Tucson theater group is offering a special Diaper Discount price for anyone who donates any size package of disposable diapers at the March 17, 18 and 19 performances of their current production, β€œThe Maternal Instinct.” Audience members who want the Diaper Discount should bring their donations with them to the ZUZI Theater in the Historic Y, 738 N. Fifth Ave., at the time of the performance. General admission is $15 and $10 for students and seniors at the door. The diaper drive discount is $7 per ticket.   • Mars Petcare: Nearly 400 Mars Petcare Associates came together on March 8 to help renovate Pima Animal Care and Control’s Animal Shelter and the Christopher Columbus Dog Park. Every year, Mars Petcare participates in a large-scale community service event during its national sales planning meeting. Associates helped update landscaping, install new play yards, shading and water fountains, as well as helped construct dog and cat toys.
