Literacy Connects

Volunteers study books appropriate for the Reading Seed program during a training session.

  • Cox Charities: Awarded a $5,000 grant to Literacy Connects to help provide one-to-one reading support for children reading below grade level. Grant funding comes from donations provided by Cox employees.
  • Cochise County Sheriff’s Office and American Southwest Credit Union: Raised $11,000 each for the Stocking Stuffer program and the Giving Tree program from their fourth annual Charity Ride event.
  • Scripps Broadcasting, Sam’s Club and Tucson Electric Power: Collected nearly $123,000 and 7,100 pounds of food to benefit the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona’s Thanksgiving on the Mayflower drive.
  • Sam Levitz Furniture: Donated $12,000 from its September Holiday Sale to the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona.
  • Enterprise Rent-a-Car Foundation: Donated $30,000 to the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona.
