Jason Mewes, left, and Kevin Smith will be at screenings of their new movie, β€œJay and Silent Bob Reboot” this weekend.

Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes, the director-and-actor duo known to fans around the world as Jay (Mewes) and Silent Bob (Smith), are in town this weekend and will be attending two screenings of their latest film at The Loft as part of their Reboot Roadshow.

The film, called β€œJay and Silent Bob Reboot,” written and directed by Smith, follows the pair as they attempt to stop a remake of β€œBluntman and Chronic,” a film based on a comic book that features characters made in their image.

The meta-heavy movie is a follow-up to the 2001 film, β€œJay and Silent Bob Strike Back,” which had Jay and Silent Bob attempting to stop the original incarnation of β€œBluntman and Chronic.”

This will be Smith’s first visit to Tucson since his heart attack in 2018. Previously, Smith had come to town for an appearance at the Rialto Theatre in 2017. Smith arrived in Tucson early that visit and posted radio station appearances and stops at local restaurants, such as Batch downtown, on social media.

The 7 p.m. showing on Friday, Dec. 6, is sold out. The other, at 10:30 p.m., only has a handful of tickets left, according to The Loft.

Tickets are $50 through loftcinema.org.
