Tucson Chamber Artists has been working all week on a recording project that could put it on the classical music map.
The professional choir brought in Grammy-winning record producer Peter Rutenberg to lead the recording. All of the works are world premieres including the 9/11 oratorio "Remembrance and Renewal," which TCA commissioned from composer Stephen Paulus to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks, said TCA founder and conductor Eric Holtan.
The choir teamed up with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra for the oratorio's world premiere at Centennial Hall; more than 1,000 people attended the performance.
Paulus is in town for the recording and will speak during a special concert Sunday that previews the CD. The concert's highlight will be a performance of "Remembrance" - the first time it has been performed live since the premiere in 2011.
Sunday's concert begins at 3 p.m. at Catalina Foothills High School, 4300 E. Sunrise Drive. Tickets are $25 by calling 401-2651 or online at TucsonChamberArtists.org Military personnel and veterans, and students will be admitted free.
Holtan said the CD should be out this fall.
