Today's fast-moving storm left those attending the Big & Rich/Gretchen Wilson Xtreme Music Tour concert at Kino Sports Complex scrambling for cover.
But once the rain stopped, the music continued, according to fans posting on Twitter and Facebook.
"No one singin yet but they put some music on," Tucsonan Jacena Sofias posted by mobile on Facebook just after 8 p.m.
Aspiring Southern rocker Hollywood Yates posted on Twitter a few minutes later: "Tucson Big and Rich and Gretchen Wilson is On! Y'all Get out here!"
One poster said the opening acts, which included Greg Hanna, Bradley "Mr. Bartender" Gaskin and Nathan Dean and the Damn Band, performed before the storm rolled in. When the rain and lightening started up, fans ducked for cover and hung out in the restrooms.
Some fans decided to leave after the storm didn't let up quickly. They assumed that the concert would be canceled.
Chris Sanzo posted on Youropenbook.org, a search engine on Facebook: "Bought VIP tickets for Gretchen Wilson and Big and Rich. Had excellent seats. The opening acts were good AND THEN we got clobbered by the monsoon. Spent 90 minutes huddled in the restroom before we bailed. No refunds offered. That just sucks."
The concert's promoter, Chris Click, could not be reached for comment.
