Jackโ€™s Original Barbecue, the iconic east side restaurant that was among Tucsonโ€™s longest-running businesses before closing last August, is back.

Retired military couple James and Sylvia Williams will reopen Jackโ€™s on April 6, resurrecting founder Jack Banks' original recipes and adding cornbread and collard greens to the menu.

โ€œThereโ€™s no doubt in my mind itโ€™s going to be a success,โ€ said James Williams, whose military career revolved around dining and whose post-military career has included owning and running a Southern-style barbecue restaurant in Virginia.

โ€œWhen you come in there itโ€™s going to taste like youโ€™re at your grandmotherโ€™s house,โ€ he said.

Jackโ€™s, 5250 E. 22nd St., will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily beginning April 6.
