Jackās Original Barbecue, the iconic east side restaurant that was among Tucsonās longest-running businesses before closing last August, is back.
Retired military couple James and Sylvia Williams will reopen Jackās on April 6, resurrecting founder Jack Banks' original recipes and adding cornbread and collard greens to the menu.
āThereās no doubt in my mind itās going to be a success,ā said James Williams, whose military career revolved around dining and whose post-military career has included owning and running a Southern-style barbecue restaurant in Virginia.
āWhen you come in there itās going to taste like youāre at your grandmotherās house,ā he said.
Jackās, 5250 E. 22nd St., will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily beginning April 6.
