Family and friends will gather from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 13, to celebrate the life of Odell Baskerville, the former Arizona Inn chef and longtime culinary instructor who died on July 21. He was 60 years old.
The event at theΒ Art Institute of Tucson campus, 5099 E. Grant Road,Β will feature stories of Baskerville's life as told by those who knew him and refreshments. Baskerville was teaching at the school at the time of his death.
Baskerville, the father of one, traded in a career in retail management for a cooking career 25 years ago. In addition to cooking at Arizona Inn, he spent time in the kitchens of Janos, Miraval and Acacia Real Food & Cocktails. He taught cooking at Pima Community College and the Art Institute.
