New Bahama Buck’s Dishing up shaved ice

Nothing refreshes like a nice, icy bite of pickle juice.

Say what?

“It’s a big seller,” says Matt Wetmore, manager of the just-opened Bahama Buck’s, 8585 E. Broadway.

He’s speaking of one of the chain’s top-selling flavors. “It tastes like really, really strong pickle juice,” Wetmore says.

Bahama Buck’s has several locations in the Phoenix area and is in several states. Its eastside shop opened Nov. 8 and is the first in Tucson. It serves up shaved ice — 100 flavors daily — along with smoothies and iced coffee.

If pickle juice — which customers like to pair with chamoy or mango — doesn’t sound like your thing, perhaps try birthday cake or princess, a bright pink syrup that smacks of cotton candy and bubble gum.

Bahama Buck’s is open noon-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday; until 10:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 1-10 p.m. Sunday.
