Bay Blue, from Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Co. in California. $8.40 per quarter pound at Blu, 100 S. Avenida del Convento.

The artisan cheese shop Blu has closed at Mercado San Agustín.

It announced this morning that it had shut down after "reaching an impasse" with the landlords.

“We had hoped and planned to be part of the Mercado for a long time,” said owner Tana Fryer in a news release. “It makes me sad that we couldn’t come to terms with our landlord and it was awful to tell my team that most of them don’t have jobs anymore.”

An email to some patrons said the owners were searching for a new location.

Blu's departure is the second recent vendor shakeup at the Mercado, west of downtown Tucson at 100 South Avenida del Convento. Earlier this month, chef Ryan Clark announced he was leaving Agustín Kitchen, a popular restaurant next door to Blu.
