Nearly two years after it announced it was moving to the bustling confluence of East Broadway and South Wilmot Road, Corner Bakery Cafe finally opened on Monday.
The opening wasnโt the kind of parking lot-packing rush that can come with a new fast-casual or fast-food chain, but business throughout the day was steady, employees reported.
Corner Bakery, 203 S. Wilmot Road, is located next to Kneaders Bakery & Cafe, 135 S. Wilmot Road โ creating a sandwich-centric corner. In fact, a driveway is all that separates the two restaurants, which have similar menus of artisanal sandwiches, house-baked breads and desserts, salads and soups.
Kneaders opened last July, roughly nine months after it and Corner Bakery had announced they were moving into the Tucson market.
