Ryan Gillie changes the locks on the rooms as the renovation progresses on The Downtown Clifton, 485 S Stone Ave. Gillie is expected to run the hotel once the renovation is completed. The vintage motel was originally built in 1948, said designer and co-owner Clifton Taylor. When completed early next month it is expected to be a boutique lodging option in the developing area south of downtown.

The Downtown Clifton Hotel,Β 485 S. Stone Ave., will be holding the Cowboy Monsoon Luau on Aug. 29. It will feature catered food from Mama's Hawaiian BBQ, Sam's Secret Rum Punch, live music and an opportunity to check out the recently renovated Downtown Clifton boutique hotel.

Tickets for just the Luau are $10, but the Luau is also part of a larger staycation package that features tickets to the Luau, a one-night stay on Aug. 29, pool passes to the MOCA pools, and breakfast at 5 Points Market for $100 per couple.
