While the number of households that watch live television has fallen, more and more people are watching video through streaming services like Netflix and Hulu. Netflix alone has over 86 million members worldwide who collectively watch more than 125 million hours of TV shows and movies per day.
To keep its content fresh, Netflix recycles some of its movies and TV shows every month, replacing them with new choices. For the average viewer, keeping track of what's coming and going can be a confusing process.
That's why PrettyFamous, an entertainment research site powered by Graphiq, decided to rank all of the movies coming to and leaving Netflix in November. Movies are ordered by their Smart Rating - a score out of 100 that takes into account a movie's IMDb rating, Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer and Audience Score, Metacritic Metascore, Gracenote rating and inflation-adjusted U.S. box office gross.
In total, roughly 50 movies are leaving the streaming site this month and over 40 are being added. While it's sad to see classics like "E.T." go, Netflix has added some more critically-acclaimed films from both the past ("The African Queen") and present ("Boyhood"). For the history buffs out there, Netflix is also adding several U.S. Army documentaries from World War II, including "The Battle of Midway" and "Prelude to War."
Here are the films leaving Netflix.
Note: A few movies were left out due to insufficient data.
