Dave Gonzalez will say goodbye to Chris Gaffney Wednesday on the small Downtown stage where they first performed together.
When Gaffney (in hat) and Gonzalez (third from left) squeezed onto Vaudeville's stage on Oct. 3, 2002, the pair clicked and the Hacienda Brothers were born. The act, which toured the country and released a few records, injected some soul into raw honky-tonk. The band's final album, "Arizona Motel," comes out June 24.
Gonzalez will lead a memorial concert at 8 p.m. Wednesday for Gaffney, who died of liver cancer April 17. Those paying tribute will include Salvador Duran, Mark Insley, Andrew Collberg, Grams and Kreiger, and Tom Walbank. Donations for Gaffney's family will be accepted.
