Percussion party

MarchFourth brings its 17-piece ensemble to Rialto Theatre on June 1 for an all-ages show.

The Rialto Theatre has a big stage, which will come in handy this weekend.

The historic downtown hall, 311 E. Congress St., will host two very large ensembles in concerts this weekend.

First up is The Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra, an 11-piece salsa group known for playing β€œdynamic, dura arrangements of indie rock tunes,” according to the description on the Rialto website.

The Rialto describes the band as innovative, spinning β€œastonishing salsa with a new, vibrant aesthetic.” Expect to hear their renditions of songs by Arcade Fire, TV on the Radio, Spoon, M83, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Black Keys among others. DJ Dirty Verbs and the dance troupes Zona Pachanga and Salson are also on the bill.

The show starts at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18. $22 at the door.

Seventeen musicians will hit the stage on Friday, Feb. 19, when MarchFourth brings its sonic street brawl for a β€œjoy-inducing, booty-shaking, soul-stirring journey” that cuts across genres and generations.

They’ve been here before so we know what the Rialto was saying in that description: trumpets and horns blare, percussion booms and there’s enough circus-like sideshow eye candy to make you dizzy.

Diego’s Umbrella opens at 8 p.m. and this is an all-ages show. $15 in advance at ticketfly.com or $16 at the door.
