Country singer Justin Moore was asked not long ago if he'd ever add a little rap to his twang.
As if, he told the radio personality posing the question.
Can you imagine the Arkansas native with the molasses smooth Southern accent rapping along to his latest No. 1 hit "You Look Like I Need A Drink" or the midtempo followup ballad "Somebody Else Will"?Β
In the sea of country artists coming out of the Nashville machine, Moore can easily lay claim to being among the twangiest of the twangers. The neo-traditional singer celebrates getting the girl, getting the drunk and slipping off in a pickup truck on a starlite summer night.
And as he sings and tells those tales, that twangy voiceΒ transcends city streets and transports you to a small Southern town where Friday nights were for high school football and first kisses were almost always awkward and pretty amazing.
