There is a reason they call it dueling pianos, when two accomplished pianists square off, keyboard to keyboard, pounding and banging out melodies, harmonies and some downright rockin' blues.
Or at least that's how we imagine Sunday's "Dueling Piano Singalong Party" at Oro Valley's Gaslight Music Hall will unfold.
Tucson blues diva Lisa Otey will take one piano, Los Angeles's goddess of soul Doña Oxford will take a second piano. Randall McDonald is hosting, although we kind of like to call him the referee.
Or, even more accurate, the choir director. This is being billed as a sing-along so you kind of need a conductor of sorts to sort it all out.
Dueling Pianos starts at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at Gaslight Music Hall, 13005 N. Oracle Road. It's $15 to get in and you can order your tickets and reserve your seats online or give them a call, 529-1000.
Oxford and Otey will face off at Gaslight Music Hall again on Oct. 14.
