Desert Diamond Casino has lined up some big-name artists over the next few months.
Tickets are available through startickets.com, and concerts are held at the Diamond Entertainment Center, 1100 W. Pima Mine Road.
- First up is FunkFest featuring co-headliners Zapp and Dazz Band on June 2. Tickets start at $15 and go on sale Saturday, April 29. What to expect: Funk pioneer Zapp, whose music is right up there as one of the most sampled bands ever, has hits including “Computer Love,” “More Bounce to the Ounce” and “Dance Floor, Part 1.” The Grammy winning Dazz Band’s hits include “Let It Whip,” “Swoop,” “Joystick,” “Heartbeat,” “Hot Spot,” “Party Right Here” and “Let It All Blow.”
- Grammy-nominated sax-man Boney James, whose star-studded career includes stints as Morris Day’s sideman and gigs with the Isley Brothers, Randy Crawford and R&B diva Teena Marie, is set to headline Desert Diamond on July 8. Tickets are $15 to $30.
- Country singer Craig Morgan (“Bonfire,” “International Harvester,” “Redneck Yacht Club”) returns for a show on July 15. Tickets are $15-$35.
- After pushing back plans to play Desert Diamond on May 5, comedian Anjelah Johnson has rescheduled for Sept. 16. Tickets, starting at $25, go on sale June 10.
- “American Idol” finalist Lauren Alaina brings her “Road Less Traveled” tour to Tucson on Sept. 29. “Road Less Traveled” is the Georgia country singer’s second album since she finished second on the 10th installment of “American Idol” in 2011. Tickets start at $10 and go on sale May 6.
