Calexico’s John Convertino, left, and Joey Burns are sharing the stage with Iron & Wine for a sold-out Rialto show on Saturday, Aug. 17.

Calexico is playing a show at the intimate Rialto Theatre offshoot 191 Toole and it’s no surprise that the show on Tuesday, Dec. 19, is completely sold out.

Unless you’re willing to pay.

One online reseller has tickets for $117 apiece; that’s nearly three times the day-of ticket price of $31 advertised before a bold “SOLD OUT” sticker was slapped on the listing at rialtotheatre.com.

Fans of the Tucson desert rock band, which has a reputation well beyond the Arizona state line, know better than to wait until the last minute. Calexico doesn’t perform at home very often, so getting a chance to see them in between their national/international travels is a treasured and rare occurrence.

Joey Burns and John Convertino are celebrating a little holiday cheer at the 191 Toole show; if you have a ticket, they’d love to see you wearing your ugliest sweater as they sing holiday favorites, a few of their hits and possibly their new single, “Voices in the Field,” off their soon-to-be released album “The Thread That Keeps Us.” It’s due to drop Jan. 26.

Tuesday’s show is the band’s last for 2017. They will hit the road again in March, spending most of the month in Europe before they return for a concert in El Paso in mid-April.
