Les Poules a Colin — Marie Savoie-Levac, Béatrix Méthé, Colin Savoie-Levac, Sarah Marchand and Éléonore Pitre — are playing an In Concert gig at the Unitarian Universalist Church.

In Concert is hosting one of Quebec’s most exciting new folk bands in a concert Friday, Oct. 26, at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 4831 E. 22nd St.

Les Poules a Colin — which literally translates to Colin’s Hens — has been around since 2009, formed by a group of musicians descended from some of Quebec’s most celebrated traditional artists.

With a pair of records to their credit and six years of folk festivals and touring under their belts, the band started getting some serious acclaim in 2015.

With the release in late 2017 of their third album, “Morose,” the band showcased a musical maturity that respected its trad roots while incorporating a mix of jazz, pop, folk, bluegrass and contemporary styles.

The Toronto Star called the album “… breathtakingly forlorn lyricism which sets the music aflame as the instruments thrum resonantly alongside. It is an album of exceeding enchantment.”

Les Poules a Colin is set to take the stage at 8 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $17, $15 for seniors, at inconcerttucson.com or at the Folk Shop, 2525 N. Campbell Ave., and at Antigone Books, 411 N. Fourth Ave. At the door, tickets are $20, $18 for seniors.
