Martha Vazquez, who left her anchor position at KVOA in Tucson following a shoplifting charge, talked to former colleague Savannah Guthrie on the Today show on NBC. The segment appeared Wednesday, February 17.

Vazquez told her story to the Star in December, 2015.

“I know I did wrong,” said Vazquez, in December. “I own it. I did it. I paid the price. I am so sorry.”

She explained that she suffers from major depressive disorder, which is defined as a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest because of a chemical imbalance in the brain.

“Depression is a disease, and it literally paralyzes you,” she says.
