"Today" co-host Savannah Guthrie has had a busy 24-hours at NBC.
After filling in for Lester Holt to anchor the "NBC Nightly News" Monday evening, she was back in her chair hosting the "Today" show Tuesday morning with Matt Lauer. Holt was reportedly out because of a family emergency.
Guthrie, who was recently married and gave birth to a daughter in August, was reportedly being considered as a possible replacement for Brian Williams, who is on a six-month suspension as anchor of the "Nightly News" as the network investigates the veracity of some of his reports.
However, she signed a three-year contract in January with the morning show and may not be available. She has substituted for Williams before.
Guthrie has many ties to Tucson. She graduated from Amphitheater High School and the University of Arizona and worked for KVOA Channel 4 before departing in 1999 to attend Georgetown University Law School.
Guthrie started at NBC in 2007. She served as the network's White House correspondent from 2008 to 2011, when she started hosting the third hour of "Today."
