We seriously doubt many people will take the advice of Shannon Zouzoulas and don lederhosen and a waist-sucking dirndl when they head out to Arizona Hops and Vines' Oktoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 6.
But then again, Zouzoulas and her Hops and Vines partner/sister Megan Haller have a knack for encouraging us all to let our hair down and live in the moment.
The sisters, billing themselves as co-conspirators for their seventh annual Oktoberfest, will be pouring fresh brewed German style beer from their neighbors, Elgin Brewery, and dishing up authentic fare from the popular German Food Truck from Tucson.
They'll also have their own wines available for tasting or full pours.
New this year, the sisters are hosting a wiener dog race featuring more than 100 Dachshunds. No, really, a wiener dog race.
Oktoberfest 2018 is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Hops and Vines, 3450 Highway 82 in Elgin-Sonoita. The cost is $20 which includes six tasting tickets, a souvenir glass and a food ticket.
• You have two more weekends to enjoy Oktoberfest in the woods of Mount Lemmon. The annual Oktoberfest on Mount Lemmon at 10300 E. Ski Run Road is from noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 14. Admission is free; food and beer are available for sale. Click here for details.
Mount Lemmon's Oktoberfest celebration began in mid-September.
