NASA wants to corral an asteroid in space so astronauts can visit and study it

To observe international Asteroid Day (Friday, June 30), Flandrau Science Center & PlanetariumΒ has scheduled a family-friendly weekend of hands-onΒ activities, exhibits, Β an array of meteorite specimens,Β and planetarium shows about asteroids.

The celebration will launch on Friday and continue through Asteroid Weekend. Β On Friday, June 30, Flandrau will offer a live stream of the Asteroid Day Live 24-hour broadcast all about asteroid science, organized by the nation of Luxembourg, which aims to become a world leader in asteroid mining.

Asteroid Day/Weekend hours

9 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday, June 30. Asteroid Activities 1-5 pm.

10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, July 1. Asteroid Activities 1-5pm.

Noon-5 p.m. Sunday, July 2. Asteroid Activities 1-5 pm.
