Love him or hate him, director Kevin Smith has been part of pop culture history since the debut of his black-and-white indie film classic "Clerks" in 1994.Β 

The filmmaker will make an appearance at the Rialto Theatre, 318 E. Congress St., this Friday, no doubt sharing stories of his time behind the camera and answering questions from fans about his storied career, his experiences on the road and what life was like with Jason Mewes, the Jay to Smith's Silent Bob. Β
