Gone bowling

It’s not quite bowl season, but it’s just about bowl selection season.

Saturday, there were fliers for the “Campus World Independence Bowl” placed at every single seat in the Sun Devil Stadium press box.

Arizona fans should be quite familiar with this bowl game, even if the name doesn’t ring a bell.

The Independence Bowl is in Shreveport, Louisiana, the location as Arizona’s 2013 bowl appearance. Back then, it was called the Advocare V100 Independence Bowl, a game the Wildcats won against Boston College 42-19.

With the Wildcats losing to the Sun Devils on Saturday, Arizona becomes a real possibility for the Independence Bowl.

ASU, on the other hand, seems destined for the Cactus Bowl, which will be played at the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Chase Field on Jan. 2.
