We're all about spring these days.

We know, spring isn't officially here until March 20, but we're looking at all of the fantastic concerts, plays, comedy shows and big names coming our way and we're getting, well, a little giddy.

We're also super intrigued about Tucson's little Scoundrel & Scamp Theatre, which is pretty obsessed this spring with Shakespeare's tragedy "Macbeth."

Tucson's immersive ensemble is infusing The Bard's finest work throughout the spring as part of its "MacFestival." There's a streamlined retelling of "Macbeth" starting next week that spotlights Lady Macbeth. In early April, they're going all "Mean Girls" meets Shakespeare with "Macbitches," a story about high school girls fighting over the Lady Macbeth role.

Then there are two shows this spring that we like to call "Macbeth adjacent" — "Peerless," a darkly funny take on Macbeth that morphs into not so funny about the high stakes of college admissions testing; and "It Is Magic," which makes a passing mention of "Macbeth" centered on community theater auditions for "Three Little Pigs" and "Macbeth" — before they conclude their "MacFest" with "5 Acts, 5 Macs." Scoundrel & Scamp invited four Tucson performing arts companies to each interpret one act of "Macbeth" the company says will be "a wickedly magical evening of music, improv and theater" April 25-27.

Another highlight of the spring arts season is the April 2 world premiere of a new John Corigliano piece written for renowned violinist Joshua Bell and his soprano wife Larisa Martinez, commissioned by the Tucson Desert Song Festival.

We've compiled a users guide to spring arts taking place in our backyard, everything from rock and pop concerts to theater, classical music and comedy. Events are subject to change so check in advance.
