Hotel Congress knows we love a good party in the summer.
Hence the historic Tucson hotel’s Summer Party Series, from concerts to this weekend’s wet-and-wild “Wet Hot American Party.”
That one is apparently legendary, Hotel Congress entertainment officials said. It’s a 21-and-older event that will feature a water slide, live entertainment and lots of adult beverages, says entertainment team member Chris Monzon.
“Wet Hot American Party” gets started at 9 p.m. Friday, July 5, on the Plaza Stage at Hotel Congress, 311 E. Congress. Admission is free.
The Summer Party Series kicked off June 23 with Terrence Simien and the Zydeco Experience. It returns July 20 with the summer night installment of the Desert Haze Vintage Market, featuring performances by Los Angeles bands The Charities and The McCharmlys. Admission is $5, and doors open at 7 p.m.
Summer Party Series events are held on the Plaza Stage. Upcoming events include:
Soul singer-songwriter Trish Toledo is doing back-to-back shows July 26-27; $22 in advance, $27 day of show.
“Surfapalooza” returns Aug. 3 with Arizona surf bands, including Tucson’s own Shrimp Chaperone and The Furys; $10.
Tucson’s pre-eminent hair band The Dirt headlines the second annual Summer Hair Metal Madness Party on Aug. 17; $20.

The Dirt plays the Hotel Congress Summer Party Series on Aug. 17.
