Candle-lit lanterns will grace the koi pond of the Yume Japanese Gardens of Tucson as part of the Japanese tradition known as Toro Nagashi.

Prayers for peace or honoring loved ones who have passed is part of the tradition, which will be celebrated here on Friday, Nov. 10, and Saturday, Nov. 11, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

β€œThis is a cultural and spiritual practice that fosters a deep sense of connection between the living and the dead,” a news release from Yume said.

As the lanterns drift away, Japanese folk music will play softly in the background.

Tickets must be purchased in advance through yumegardens.org/events.

Admission is $19; children 15 and under get in for $5. Lanterns will be available for purchase at the door for $5.
