Tucson is the latest city to host the California-based Activated Events‘ country music festival Boots in the Park, coming to Rillito Park on Oct. 18.
The one-day festival, headlined by Chris Young and Dustin Lynch, has traveled around the Southwest since Activated Events launched the brand in 2018 in Southern California.

Country rocks the Rialto, R Bar
Lukas Nelson is releasing his debut solo album in June, but Tucson fans might get a little sneak peak when he takes the stage at the Rialto, 318 E. Congress St., on Sunday, May 11.
The son of outlaw country legend Willie Nelson teamed up with Shooter Jennings, the son of another outlaw legend, Waylon Jennings, to produce “American Romance.”
Nelson, who often tours with his father, fronted his roots rock band Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real from 2008 until last year.
In a video promoting the solo project, Nelson said the album is like a travelogue of all the places he’s seen and experienced in his life traveling as a musician and with his famous father.
Payton Howie opens Sunday’s concert at 8 p.m. Tickets are $34.50-$65 through rialtotheatre.com.
Meanwhile, Tucson country singer Mark Insley & the Broken Angels will keep the party going at 10 p.m. Sunday at the Rialto’s neighboring R Bar. Admission is free.
