Organist Chelsea Chen will open the 10th Catalina Organ Festival on Friday, Nov. 15, with a recital of works by Debussy, Duruflé, Bach and Saint-Saëns.

The New York-based San Diego native and graduate of both Juilliard and Yale also will perform works she composed during time she spent in Taiwan as a Fulbright Scholar.

Organist Chelsea Chen will perform at Catalina United Methodist Church on Friday, Nov. 15.

Her performance is one of three in the series, which Catalina United Methodist Church launched in 2014 to celebrate the dedication of the church’s organ. In the years since, it has hosted national and international organists, including Shin-Young Lee, Lynne Davis, Aaron Tan, Hector Olivera, Kimberly Marshall, Douglas Cleveland, Katelyn Emerson and David Briggs.

Chen’s concert begins at 7 p.m. at the church, 2700 E. Speedway. Tickets are $30, $25 for seniors and $10 for students through catalinamethodist.org/organ-festival.

The 2024-25 festival continues Feb. 21 with New York organist Alcée Chriss III. London-based organist Anna Lapwood will perform on April 7.
