Nominations are open for the third annual Tucson Hip Hop Awards, honoring local rappers and artists in a number of categories from artists of the year to song of the year.

Voting is open through May 1 on Facebook and Instagram, said longtime Tucson DJ and reggae artist Jahmar “DJ Jahmar” Anthony, who founded the awards.

There are 26 categories, including best venue, best recording studio, best plus-size model and best barber, in addition to the best artist and song categories.

To nominate, visit Arizona Mix Tapes on Facebook (facebook.com/groups/AZMTUSICAWARDS) or the Tucson Hip Hop Instagram page (instagram.com/tucsonhiphopawards).

Awards will be announced Sept. 14 at the Rialto Theatre.

Anthony launched the local awards in 2022 to spotlight Tucson’s diverse hip-hop community, which is often overlooked in statewide awards.

This year’s awards are sponsored by Clear Vision Express, Call Christina Now, Rio Nuevo, Arizona Mixtapes and Twelve Tribes Entertainment.
