The new Mount Lemmon Lodge is resurrecting "Music On the Mountain," a weekly concert series that kicks off Saturday, April 20, and runs through October. The original series, which always prompted the audience to dance, ended in 2013.

More than a decade after Bonnie Vining ended the popular "Music On the Mountain" concert series on Mount Lemmon in 2013, live music is returning.

Beginning Saturday, April 20, the months-old Mount Lemmon Lodge will kick off a new version of "Music On the Mountain," weekly concerts with Tucson bands ranging from classic rock and country to reggae and R&B.

Tucson promoter Jim Travis of Vibz-Arizona booked concerts through the summer for the lodge, which will set up a stage on its big patio, 12833 N. Sabino Canyon Park in Summerhaven.

The first concert on Saturday will feature the Tucson reggae band A-1, which keyboard player Jared Koeppel said got its start in 1998 when he was a student at the University of Arizona. The current iteration of the bandhas been together three years, Koeppel said.

Upcoming shows include: Mark Thomas on May 4; Jay Fairchild May 11; jazz singer Susan Artemis on May 18; the bluesy Southern Comfort Band May 25; Tiny House of Funk on June 1; and John Hughs June 8.
