Back in spring 2012, the “King of Accordion” Ramón Ayala played the Pima County Fair and returned months later for a September show at the AVA at Casino del Sol.

Both shows sold out.

Seems whenever Ayala, the legendary Texas-based norteño artist who’s been a fixture in the genre for some 60 years, comes to Tucson, tickets go fast.

Tucson fans have one last chance to see Ayala, who brings his “El Principio de Un Final” (the beginning of an end) farewell tour to the AVA on July 5. The tour has dates penciled in through Nov. 1, when it comes to Phoenix’s Footprint Center.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, through casinodelsol.com.

Ayala set off on his farewell tour early last year, but in June, he canceled all remaining 2024 dates.

No reason was given, and most of those canceled shows have yet to be rescheduled.

The AVA has announced one other show — The Beach Boys on May 3 — for its 2025 season, which starts after Easter and runs through October or early November. Tickets for that show also go on sale Friday.
