Cinderella's Closet

Cinderella’s Closet, started in 2009, distributes free prom dresses and shoes to high school juniors and seniors.

High school students who need a prom dress can get one for free at "Prom-O-Rama," an event made possible through a partnership between Cinderella's Closet, JTED and Goodwill of Southern Arizona.

Dresses will be distributed Β on a first come first served basis from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 5 at JTED, 8787 E. 22nd Street.

Cinderella's Closet is currently accepting donations for the event.

New and gently used, clean dresses in all sizes that are current with what a high school girl would wear to prom will be accepted. Tax-deductible monetary donations are accepted as well.

Donations can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at Melissa Tureaud, State Farm, 7487 E. Broadway.

Cinderella's Closet was started in May 2009 by two sisters, Melissa Tureaud and Jennifer Megaw, to give students the chance to go to their high school proms and, at the same time, provide a way to recycle dresses and accessories that are practically brand new.

"It's an environmentally friendly, socially acceptable way to make memories," Megaw said.Β
