Christians United for Israel invited Muslim Zionist Kasim Hafeez to speak Wednesday night because he once hated Israel.
βAfter visiting, I knew Iβd got it wrong,β he wrote in his Twitter bio. βNow proud to say I am a Muslim Zionist ...What, you canβt be both? I am, deal with it.β
A pro-Israel activist, Hafeez will share his journey from the radical Islamist beliefs he developed during his childhood as a Pakistani Muslim in the United Kingdom to his first, eye-opening trip to Israel. Now, he writes and speaks around the world about combatting anti-Semitism.
βA practicing Muslim, he was able to step back and investigate,β said John Winchester, the Tucson director of Christians United for Israel. βHe can show there is a level of ignorance involved in perceptions of Israel, and if someone can step back from their traditions and practice, they can come away as a much more reasonable person.β
